Terms of use

Written to be read. The parts that matter most are the one about estimates not being bids, and the one about canceling — both are near the top rather than buried.

Last updated 31 October 2026. These terms are between you and 716Ventures LLC, 418 Broadway Suite R, Albany, NY 12207, which operates AerialQuote. Using the site means you accept them.

An estimate is not a bid

Everything this site produces is a planning guide. It is not a quote, not a bid, not a survey, and not professional advice. Measurements are taken from aerial imagery that may be months or years old, and their accuracy depends on where you place the corners. Check quantities before you order material and verify dimensions before you build. We are not responsible for overages, shortfalls, miscalculations, or work priced from these numbers.

What you get for free

Measuring, every calculator, and the published price ranges are free to anyone, with no account required and no expiry. That is not a trial and we do not intend to put it behind a paywall. A free account additionally saves a limited number of quotes and addresses; the current limits are shown on the Pro page.

Pro subscriptions

Pro is a paid monthly or annual subscription, billed through Stripe. Prices are shown at checkout and include any applicable tax.

  • Cancel any time. There is no minimum term and no cancellation fee.
  • Monthly. When you cancel you keep Pro to the end of the month you have already paid for, and it does not renew. You can turn it back on whenever you like.
  • Yearly. When you cancel you keep Pro until your expiry date. Annual payments are not refunded part-way through — that is what makes the yearly price lower than paying monthly.
  • Switching to yearly. Your year starts the day you switch.
  • Nothing is deleted when you cancel. Your quotes and addresses stay put. If you are over the free limits they become read-only until you are back under them or back on Pro.
  • Price changes. If we change the price of a plan you are on, we will tell you by email before it takes effect, and you can cancel before it does.

If a payment fails we may suspend Pro features until it clears. We do not sell your data to make up the difference.

Your account

Sign-in is by one-time email link, so keep access to your email address secure — anyone who can read your inbox can sign in as you. Tell us at support@aerialquote.com if you think someone else has got in. One account is for one person or one business; do not share credentials.

Contributing price data

If you choose to contribute a finished quote to the regional dataset, you give us permission to include it in aggregate published figures. In return we commit to the four rules on the methodology page: never attributed to your company, aged at least 45 days, never published below three separate contributors, and never sold as a private tier. Contributing is optional and you can stop at any time.

The same applies to the rate card on your account page. Enter your own current rates, as you would quote them; you can change or clear them whenever you like, and a cleared figure comes out of the dataset. The rate card is for benchmarking and better estimates. It is not a price list we publish for you, and it does not bind you to any price.

Do not submit figures that are not your own, and do not use the dataset to coordinate pricing with competitors. Aggregation, aging and the contributor minimum exist precisely to make the data useful for benchmarking without becoming a mechanism for that.

Acceptable use

  • Do not scrape, bulk-download or resell the price data, or the imagery, which is not ours to license.
  • Do not use the tool to harass, surveil or profile anyone, or to gather information about a property for any purpose the owner would object to.
  • Do not attempt to break, overload or reverse-engineer the service.
  • Imagery and parcel data belong to their providers — Google and its imagery providers, Esri and its sources, and the relevant state GIS agency — and are subject to their terms, including the Google Maps terms of service.

We may suspend an account that does these things.

The Deck Designer

It is a starting point, not an engineered plan. The Deck Designer builds a deck plan from the prescriptive tables of the 2021 International Residential Code (section R507) and the American Wood Council’s DCA 6 guide, using assumptions — soil bearing, lumber species and grade, frost depth and loads — that may not match your site. Plans it produces are not engineered or architectural drawings and have not been reviewed by a licensed engineer or architect.

  • You are responsible for having the plan reviewed by your building department, and by a licensed engineer or architect wherever your town requires one, before you build.
  • Any change you make to a plan (for example, after a plan review) is yours. The Designer checks changes against the code tables but does not approve them.
  • AerialQuote is not responsible for how a deck is designed, permitted, built or inspected, for compliance with local codes or ordinances, or for any loss arising from use of a plan.
  • Heavy loads such as hot tubs, decks over 12 ft high, freestanding and multi-level decks are outside what the Designer plans, and a permit set is not offered for them.

Permit sets and refunds. Where a permit plan set is sold, it is a one-time purchase for one deck and includes printing, PDF, email and revisions for that deck. If your building department asks for a change the Designer cannot make, email us within 30 days of purchase with their comments and we will refund you in full. Payments are handled by Stripe; card details never reach AerialQuote.

Free plans. A free account can keep one saved deck plan. Purchased plans don’t count against it, and Pro accounts can keep as many as they like.

Photos and notes in the build log

A DeckIQ plan set comes with a build log, where you can tick off steps, write notes and add photos. These rules cover anything you add there.

  • It stays yours. You keep the rights to your photos and notes. You let us store them and show them to the people who can open that plan (you, and the contractor on a design you accepted), only so the build log works. They are never made public and never sold.
  • Only add what you have the right to share. Photos you took or have permission to use, of the work. No pictures of people who haven’t agreed to it, and nothing illegal, sexual, violent, hateful or harassing.
  • We can remove it. We don’t look through build logs, but we may remove any photo or note that breaks these rules and suspend the account that added it. We report child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, as US law requires, and we work with law enforcement on illegal content.
  • Report a problem. If a photo in your build log shouldn’t be there, use Report under the photo, or email support@aerialquote.com with the plan ID. A reported photo is hidden from the build log while we review it. Copyright complaints go to the same address: say what the work is, where it appears, and how to reach you.
  • Removing it. You can remove a photo you added at any time. Deleting a plan deletes its build log, photos included. The exception: a photo that has been reported, or that we have to keep for the authorities, is kept (for up to a year, or longer if the law requires) even if it is removed or the plan is deleted.

Rules for listed businesses

Play by the rules or you don’t get to play. Every contractor and supply yard listed on AerialQuote agrees to these when it signs up. Homeowners trust the businesses they find here because of them.

  • Call back. If you pick up a customer’s request, contact them promptly. If you can’t take the job after all, tell them.
  • Quote honestly. No bait-and-switch pricing, no invented extras, no pressure to sign on the spot.
  • Do the work you quote, to a professional standard, with the licenses and insurance your trade requires.
  • Treat AerialQuote customers with respect. No harassment, no abusive or threatening language, no repeated calls or texts after they say no.
  • Use a customer’s details only for the job they asked about. Do not sell, share or add them to a mailing list.
  • Do not misuse the site. No fake listings or reviews, no listing another company, no reselling leads, no scraping, and nothing on this page’s acceptable-use list.

If AerialQuote is contacted about poor or unfinished work, customers or leads being treated poorly, or misuse of the site in any way, your listing and account may be removed and the business banned from AerialQuote, at AerialQuote’s sole discretion, with or without notice. A banned business cannot sign up again under another email address. A ban does not refund any subscription period already paid; you can cancel a subscription at any time from your account.

Rules version 26 September 2026. The version you agreed to is recorded with your listing.

Text alerts

AerialQuote text alerts are optional texts that tell you there is a new message or a change on a deck you are talking about in the deck designer, with a link to read it on aerialquote.com. You sign up under My alerts by adding your mobile number, ticking the consent box and confirming the code we text you (how it works).

  • How often: only when something happens on a deck you are talking about; at most one text per deck every 30 minutes, none between 9 pm and 8 am your time.
  • Cost: AerialQuote does not charge for texts. Message and data rates from your carrier may apply.
  • Stop: reply STOP to any text, or untick texts under My alerts. Reply START to turn them back on.
  • Help: reply HELP, or email support@aerialquote.com.
  • Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Agreeing to texts is not a condition of any purchase. Your number is handled as the privacy page describes.

Availability

We aim to keep the site up but do not guarantee it. It depends on third-party imagery and geocoding services that can fail or change without notice, and it is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability to you for anything arising from the service is limited to what you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim — which for most people is nothing.

Nothing here limits liability for fraud, or for anything that cannot lawfully be limited.

Changes and law

We may update these terms; material changes will move the date above and, if you have an account, be emailed to you. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York.
