Fun calculators
The lighter side of the site: Christmas lights for your house, snow days, countdowns and more. Free, no account, and the math is written out on every page.
What is here
The snow day calculator reads the National Weather Service forecast for your ZIP code and turns it into three chances for each of the next three school mornings: closed, delayed or open on time. It weighs the snow against what is normal where you live, because three inches shuts some towns and barely slows others.
Spin the wheel picks from a list you type, with weights if one choice should come up more often. The winner is drawn from secure random numbers in your browser before the wheel moves, and a test tab spins it up to 100,000 times to show the counts are fair.
The coin flip draws heads or tails the same fair way, then a 3D coin flips, bounces and settles on it. Call it first, play best of 3, 5, 7 or 9, flip several coins at once, or check whether your own coin is fair.
The random number generator draws fair numbers from any range, whole or with decimals, with or without repeats, then rolls the drums to show them. It also picks raffle winners from names or ticket numbers, runs 100,000 draws so you can watch them even out, and works out the odds.
The dice roller rolls any dice on a real-looking table: d4 to d100, or any die up to 1,000 sides, with notation like 2d6+3 and 4d6 drop the lowest. Each die is drawn the same fair way before the throw, and a Dice odds tab gives the exact chance of any total, with advantage or without.
The password generator makes a strong random password or an easy-to-remember passphrase from secure random numbers in your browser, then spins a silver combination cylinder to show it. It also checks a password you have, shows how long one would take to guess, and makes a Wi-Fi code guests can scan. Nothing you make or type is sent or saved.
The Christmas countdown counts the days, hours, minutes and seconds until Christmas starts where you are, with a tree that lights one bulb for each week of the year. It shows who gets Christmas first around the world and counts down to Thanksgiving, New Year’s or any date you type. Your time zone is read in your browser and never sent.
The Christmas lights calculator turns your house into strands to buy: the roofline with the gable edges at their true slope, the windows, the door and spiral wraps on your trees. It adds the watts and amps, counts the plugs each chain needs from the limits printed on the boxes, and checks the circuit at 80 percent, with a picture of your house lit up.
The countdown calculator counts down to any date and time in the time zone where it happens, with a clock ring, workdays and weekend days, a calendar file and a share link. Sign in and it keeps up to 20 events, each with an optional private trip budget that is never in a shared link.
Every page here follows the same rules as the rest of the site: plain numbers, the reasons shown, no account, and no cookies of our own. New ones are added to this page as they go live.
